Internals LLC, an Austin-based software firm specializing in system security and kernel development, has introduced advanced malware solution ‘PoS Shield’ for preventing credit card theft from point of sale terminals.
“Recent cyber-attacks on major retail chains such as Target, Neiman Marcus and Home Depot across U.S. cities which led to the leak of millions of credit cards have proved that anti-viruses and whitelisting such solutions are inadequate for protecting point of sale terminals from malware. No effective solution was made by anyone that was designed specifically to protect point of sale terminals against virus threats,†says Yariv Kaplan, CSO at Internals LLC, adding, “PoS Shield gives perfect solution to such attacks and we have made the software affordable, yet robust. The malware attack has proved that it was no longer the case that credit card and sensitive customer information couldn’t be kept private and secure.â€
The most prevalent attack on PoS terminals is from malware that sense memory of PoS software to steal credit card track information. Such malware are known as RAM scrapers.
PoS Shield is an innovative POS security solution provider that prevents RAM scrapers and other PoS-specific malware which use key logging and screen capturing to achieve their goal. PoS Shield creates a secure wall around PoS software to prevent access to its memory thereby offering continuous protection against RAM scrapers such as Backoff, BlackPOS, Alina and Dexter.
