Mobeam, a leader in mobile barcode beaming technology, has announced its latest version of its popular Beep’nGo App for Android.
Beep’nGo, which currently has over 10 million installs all over the world, has just added significant design improvements to its 4.0 iteration allowing customers to use retail loyalty cards, gift cards and barcode coupons on their smartphone at checkout scanners for the first time.
The design improvements include location-based card reminders for faster checkout and an enhanced “Add Card” setup process. Separate destinations for cards and offers are now easily accessible under the new menu drawer.
“We want to make sure we are doing everything we can to improve the user experience and make the use of beaming technology as seamless as possible for the consumer and the retailer,” said Mobeam CEO George Garrick, who further adds, “As our beaming technology continues its rapid adoption, we must remain diligent in improving the ability of retailers and brands to strengthen their relationships with shoppers through the use of mobile at checkout.”
Mobeam's patented light-based beaming technology overcomes historical technical barriers and enables (POS) laser scanners to read barcodes on Android mobile devices. Popular and emerging "mobile payment" apps rely on NFC or other technologies that communicate with credit card payment terminals, but not with scanners.
Because Mobeam enables a mobile wallet to interact with the scanner, payment apps can now carry loyalty cards, membership cards, gift cards, tickets, vouchers and coupons, providing them with universal POS access at retailers. Mobeam technology easily integrates with all existing mobile payment apps, thus completing their role as a comprehensive mobile wallet.
Mobeam is a mobile technology which allows a smartphone to transmit a modulated infrared beam of light containing digital information which is readable by a retail checkout scanner or other appropriate receiver.
