Krishna district in Andhra Pradesh has achieved the distinction of being topped in India in full implementation of Electronic Point Of Sale (e-POS) in Public Distribution System (PDS) that aims to bring efficiency and transparency, a media report said.
Sharing the information with district collectors from Hyderabad through video conference, Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary IYR Krishna Rao said, "In Krishna district all the 2,155 public distribution points (ration shops) have been brought under e-POS in two phases."
"Whenever, the beneficiary collects his ration from the dealer, the information under this system immediately passed to the Tahashildar concerned through electronic process. With this, all loop holes in the distribution of material under PDS can easily be monitored," he said.
This system facilitates the beneficiary to collect his PDs material from anywhere in the district.
A Business Standard report quoting Krishna District Collector Babu said that this process would save huge funds allocated for PDS by eliminating fraudulent practices.
