Bharat QR Code is the world’s first interoperable payment acceptance solution, and Bijlipay has become the first Indian Point-of-Sale (PoS) devices providing company to enable it on the screens of PoS machines.
Bijlipay, an end to end digital payment solutions company, has enabled the QR code for 12,000 merchants and targets to make the facility available to another 50,000 merchants by the end of 2017, a media report said.
According to Bijlipay, just providing digital payments devices cannot raise awareness about cashlessness among Indians. It said that there is a requirement of handholding, education and awareness to see the actual conversions to digital payments in Tier II-III cities.
Bijlipay says that it will make provisions for end-to-end solutions, which will include demos, documentation, installation, training, risk profiling, reconciliation, settlement and analytics.
Interestingly, the company said that more than the quantity of machines in the India market, one can get an idea of acceptance of digital payments by looking at the volume that each machine processes and that will ‘set the right parameter for a successful digitisation of payments’.
Bijlipay is a brand under Skilworth Technologies, and it had started offering m-POS solutions in India, since July 2014. Bijlipay is present in Tier II and III cities in 16 states across India. In the digital payments solution business, Bijlipay has acquired solutions like m-POS & GPRS POS and ‘Swipe4Cash’ mini ATM products and also provides an insurance platform for prepaid cards, Forex cards, Gift cards and the likes.
Pradeep Oommen, CEO, Bijlipay, said, “We have been providing secure and robust mPoS machines which are certified to stringent European standards to aid the honourable Prime Minister’s digitisation drive. The intent is to make these POS machines smarter which as yet were used only for physical card acceptance.”
He added, “We realised that in this transition from cash to cashless, there are various modes of payments for different people across geographies & demographics. A machine that enables various modes seems like the best solution to meet all needs. And hence as a first step, we introduced the much awaited Bharat QR code on our existing card swiping machines.”
