AOPEN, a leading electronics manufacturer based in Taiwan, who makes computers and their parts, has introduced to the market the first commercial grade multi-touch device suitable for system integration in POS devices or kiosks.
The Chrome-base Commercial grade device, which is versatile, tamperproof, is a solid-state device designed to be robust and secure, making it ideal for interactive public display in high-traffic environments (i.e. as a digital signage, POS or kiosk system). The device requires zero maintenance, can be mounted in portrait or landscape and is currently available in a 22-inch format with a 19-inch format to follow.
The multi-touch panel features a waterproof, toughened glass front, tamperproof cable and mounting and its fan-less design keeps dust out. It is also shock-resistant. Together with Chrome OS, it makes for a highly diverse system that can display content via apps by accessing the Cloud.
"The device is a versatile system built in a tamperproof rugged design for 24-7 use. It puts a full commercial grade device into the hands of retailers for use in demanding consumer environments," said Stephen Borg, global director of strategy & marketing at AOPEN.
"Despite being an industrial-grade device, the Chromebase Commercial has also been designed with the sleek elegance of an end-user device. It's only 30mm thick despite its toughened glass front and fits easily into a presentation display or kiosk in a discreet and visually appealing way. At AOPEN, we encourage integrators to create innovative mounting solutions and enclosures to optimize the display and the use of our devices," he said.
The Chrome-base Commercial has been designed to lower total cost of ownership. It has automatic system updates to keep its system secure as well as Zero-Touch-Point Manageability via the Cloud using Chrome Device Management, both of which reduce the costs of IT support and maintenance. As with all AOPEN devices, there is long product life cycle support, and systems are built with low power consumption to keep costs at a minimum.
For connecting other devices such as POS peripherals and authentication devices (i.e. Biometrics), the Chrome-base Commercial has commercial ports, ruling out the need for multiple power cables.
All Commercial Chrome products come with a yearly or perpetual Chrome Device Management license option. Chrome device management allows administrators to manage their organization's Chrome devices from a single place. Integrators can also use the signage app of their preference available via the Chrome web store to control what's on the screen.
